I’ve finally gotten back to walking. Here in Milford, Illinois I walk my 2-3 miles on what is locally called a ‘slab’. It seems that during the second World War, when most products were needed for war, roads were necessary for the farmers to get their produce to the elevators, the county paved a single lane. Returning home after a very meaningful, satisfying time with family and friends, I find my mind trying to recapture each precious moment. I feel the hugs and am warmed by the loving words spoken; I laugh again at the antics of my babes, young and old; I savor once again the aroma of roast beef on the stove and caramel rolls in the oven! I love the surprise of the kids stopping in after school just to say hi (and eat a caramel roll). Together...
